The Parting Glass - Available March 2005
*Very low resolution samples to give you an idea of some of the content of the recording - they sound like they are being played in a bucket of water, but take our word for it that the CD sounds A LOT better!
Under the name 'Kingsfold', Breda and Feargal King have been performing Irish Music around the Chicago area since 1998. During that time they have developed a unique sound that combines the best of traditional and contemporary styles in Irish music. On their new CD 'The Parting Glass - Songs Of Ireland' they have translated their live act to the recording medium in a creative way, informed by the experience of making their two previous Christian albums. From pub favorites like "The Spanish Lady" and "Black Velvet Band" to modern masterpieces of contemporary Irish songwriting such as Noel Brazil's "Ellis Island" and Jimmy McCarthy's "No Frontiers", to traditional songs like "She Moved Through The Fair" and "Star of the County Down" updated with the creative and atmospheric use of synthesizers and percussion, there is something for everyone here. By special request, the song "Danny Boy" has been included as a dedication to all veterans of war. A unique feature to this CD, compared to their previous releases, is that Breda and Feargal did all the vocal and instrumental performances themselves, showing the range of their multiple musical skills! Feargal even worked up the courage to sing lead on the title track, "The Parting Glass" . . . he will never utter a word of criticism to poor Breda again when she stands behind the microphone! As recording engineer John Towner so famously said many times during the compressed 6-week production schedule: "It is what it is!" 'The Parting Glass - Songs of Ireland' is available either online by credit card or by mail order if you send a check for $15 to our address, detailing your address and specifying the title of the CD (please add $2 for shipping & handling). It will also make a great gift for friends & family who enjoy Irish music. Feargal & Breda
